Ferroloy operates two 3,000 lbs Inductotherm induction furnaces with dedicated power supplies providing over 5,000 lbs/hr of melt capacity. All iron pouring is performed manually with 600 lb tilt or geared ladles. The pour line is set up as a pallet line which allows for up to 3 different part numbers to be poured from a single ladle.

Iron chemistry is controlled at the furnace by taking a Q-Cup measured on our Sensor Lab before tapping to ensure the C, Si and CE levels are within acceptable ranges. In addition, a furnace base button is taken and tested by spectrometer to confirm the chemistry of the heat. Lastly another button is taken at mid-ladle and tested by spectrometer to confirm the chemistry of the ladle. Molds that are poured outside the acceptable ranges are quarantined and tested.
